Gumandev Hanuman Mandir in Ujjain is one of the city’s most ancient and spiritually powerful temples, believed to be around 4,000 years old. The temple is unique as it houses the idols of the Ashta Chiranjeevis (eight immortal beings) along with Lord Hanuman, who is also one among them. According to legend, the idol of Gumandev Hanuman was brought from Jagadia village in Gujarat by the Vyas family, who have served as priests here for generations. The temple is mentioned in ancient scriptures under the name Kumarashwar Hanuman. In 2004, devotees witnessed a divine miracle when the idol transformed from an aged form to a child form (Bal Swaroop). The name “Guman” symbolizes “ego,” and the deity is believed to destroy pride and grant humility and success. Devotees visit this temple for protection from evil, relief from suffering, and to seek fulfillment of their heartfelt desires.
