Temple History
Rin Mukteshwar Mahadev Temple in Ujjain is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, worshipped here as the reliever of debts (Rin Mukteshwar). The temple is believed to date back to the era of King Vikramaditya, who performed rituals here to attain freedom from worldly and karmic debts. According to legends, Lord Shiva appeared in this form to bless his devotees with liberation from financial, mental, and spiritual burdens. Situated near the holy Shipra River, the temple’s serene environment enhances meditation and devotion. The Shivalinga here is said to be self-manifested and radiates divine energy. Devotees visit especially on Mondays and Mahashivratri, believing that sincere worship grants freedom from debt, sorrow, and obstacles. The temple stands as a symbol of liberation, peace, and divine grace in Ujjain.
