Navgrah Shani Mandir, located near the banks of the sacred Shipra River in Ujjain, is a powerful temple dedicated to Lord Shani and the nine celestial planets (Navgrahas). It is believed to have been established during the reign of King Vikramaditya, who performed rituals here to pacify planetary influences. According to legends, King Vikramaditya himself faced the trials of Shani Dev and built this temple to honor his grace and justice. The temple enshrines idols of all nine planets, with Shani Dev in a commanding position, representing discipline and destiny. Devotees visit the temple, especially on Saturdays and Amavasya, to seek relief from planetary doshas, misfortune, and karmic suffering. The temple stands as a symbol of balance, justice, and spiritual harmony in one’s life.
